Building The Bend

Watch two cabins rise from the riverbank.

This is the real build, in near-real time. Raw land to finished cabins, on roughly 20 acres along the Shenandoah River, documented as it actually happens. Not a highlight reel filmed after the fact. The clearing, the piers, the framing, the finishing, and everything the plans do not warn you about. If you want to see how a place like this gets made, this is the page to follow.

Where We Are Now

The build, phase by phase.

The Bend comes together in stages, each one earning the next. Here is the planned path from raw land to open doors. We will keep the marker below moving as the work moves. Clearing and opening the riverbank on the property

Clearing and opening the riverbank, working with the river in mind, not against it.

01

Site work

Clearing, access, grading, and preparing roughly 20 riverside acres for what comes next.

In progress
02

Foundations

Engineered piers set after flood certification, lifting both cabins above the floodplain.

Next
03

Vertical construction

Framing, roofs, and walls. The point where drawings finally stand up.

Planned
04

Finishing

Stone, wide-plank floors, fireplaces, porches, hot tubs, and the details that make it a place.

Planned

Current phase: Site work. Stages are planned and will move as construction moves.

Three ways to keep up.

Pick your speed. Some people want every update, some want the milestones, some just want to be there when the doors open. All three work.

The Deal We Make With You

The real thing, not the highlight reel.

We will show you the good days and the hard ones. The pour that goes right, the delivery that goes wrong, the design change nobody saw coming, and the occasional argument with Virginia clay, which has opinions. Building on a river is humbling work, and pretending otherwise would waste your time. So the promise is simple: successes and mistakes, both, in the open. A build worth following is one that tells you the truth.

The good days and the hard ones, both. The first real road in.

Your Call

Some of this is up to you.

A few decisions are still genuinely open, and this is the moment they are cheap to change. When a call is on the table, we will put it to the people following along. Weigh in, and you will see your vote show up in the finished cabins.

Name the cabins

The River's Edge Lodge and Cottage are working names. Help us land the finals.

Choose the finishes

Weigh in on the details still on the table, from wood tones to fixtures.

Riverside seating

Fire pit and Adirondacks, a long harvest table, or both.

What belongs by the water

Hammock grove, river overlook, or somewhere to just sit and stargaze.

Be Part of It

Don't just watch it get built. Help.

Every update, every preview, every vote, and the first stays when they come, all of it starts with one list. This is the front-row seat for the whole build of The Bend.
